Five Simple Changes That Have Made Life Easier

Just a few weeks ago we celebrated six months in our new home. On March 14, to be exact. I cannot believe we have lived here for half a year. It’s still so crazy at times to think we moved our little family of four, plus two fur babies, down south in the middle of a pandemic. But did it we did, and are so happy to be in our cozy home and to finally enjoy a bit of a routine. It was a tad hectic there for a bit- with so many changes and so little routine- but over the last few months we’ve found our groove again, and we’ve made a few simple changes that has helped make life just a little bit easier these days.

Ah, it's the magical mystery kind

Ah, must be a lie

Bye bye to the too good to be true kind of love

Oh, I could die

Oh now I can die

We chose this as our wedding song after a fast and furious love affair. It felt fitting and I adored the beat. We didn’t realize at the time it was about tripping, but I guess the whirlwind we were in sort of felt that way, too.

Picture Perfect

Last week, on Christmas night, I laid in bed- with a belly full of wine and food; a house overcome by ripped-open boxes and toys and clutter; and two happy, sleeping babies in the rooms next to me. And instead of staying up late to clean and organize and tidy, I instead cozied up with Netflix and a peppermint cookie, and scrolled through Instagram.

On Joy

2019- what a year you have been. I would have to say, of all my years you’ve been the most unexpected yet.

I started it off coming to terms with the idea that our little family was complete- that Maddie was enough, and that after all the trying and ups and downs, we were whole. And then, after cleaning out baby closets and feeling content, we found out we would be welcoming another beautiful being into the fold- our Lila Lee.

Holiday Cheer

Only nine more sleeps until Santa arrives, and we are soaking it all in while we can! It’s always a little bittersweet for me this time of year- it’s my very favorite and I love every second of the holiday season, but it always seems to go by a little too fast. The forecast calls for a {slight} chance of a white Christmas, and I have my fingers crossed they might be right.

Playing Dress Up

Looking back on my childhood, I distinctly remember sneaking into my mother’s closet and falling in love with a pair of her shoes. They were the quintessential 1980’s red pump. They weren’t exceptionally high. The toe the perfect combination of round and point. They were bright and bold; grown-up and classically chic. And they were hers. They were everything in my five-year-old eyes. Just like she was.

35 weeks today and I really can’t believe it. I’ve been pregnant this entire year; it’s gone by SO quickly, and yet I still feel like I’ve been pregnant FOREVER.

Only a few more weeks before we’ll be welcoming our next love, and we are counting down the seconds until we get to meet her.

My Tattoo Diary

Roughly ten years ago, at the ripe ole age of 25, I got my first tattoo.

It hadn’t been a long time coming; I never really imagined myself getting a tattoo, I never begged my parents for one growing up. But one day, I woke up and really wanted one. Needed one, actually. So I headed to the local parlor in downtown Santa Barbara and scratched my tattoo itch.

10 Summer Reads

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, meaning summer is now officially in full swing.

We’ll be spending the next few months keeping this bump close to home- and I’m planning on a whole lot of {shaded} beachside lounging in my future. Hopefully, this will leave me with some much desired time to dive head first into a book or two {or three}.

Collecting Little Art: Artkive PT I

Does anyone else struggle with what to do with all those pretty little masterpieces that come home from school with our kiddos? I sure do.

Ever since MM started preschool last year, I’ve been struggling about what to do with all the paintings, drawings, crafts and keepsakes that have come home signed by our girl. It’s made me a bit of a hoarder when it comes to her artwork; and I’ve been on the hunt for an alternative to keeping it in bins for eternity.

Weekend Recap

After traveling a bunch the entire month of May and the beginning of June, we finally had a full family weekend at home. And it was just what we needed.

Friday we celebrated Maddie’s birthday with a super low key get together at the house with family. We grilled and enjoyed some good old fashion Carvel ice cream cake and enjoyed our first official BBQ of the season at our house.

Four

Four years ago today, at 3:06 am, we met your for the very first time.

Maybe met is the wrong word. Because we knew you well before then.

For so long before that day, we knew you were ours. You filled our dreams with hope for a family; one that had to include you- your spirit, your heart, your love of life and happiness and us.

Life Lately

Friday marks week 27 for this here bump, and I can’t believe the third trimester is just around the corner. It really is crazy how much quicker my pregnancy is going, this time around. So much faster, but still THIRTEEN weeks left to go. Making a tiny human really does take forever, and its really ten months not nine, people; but I know its all worth it in the end. And even though my due date isn’t for three more months, if its anything like the past few, I know it’ll go by in the blink of an eye- especially now that school’s out and summer vacation is officially here.

Surprise!

Hi, friends! ICYMI: We’re expecting! I shared a little bit about our story on Instagram over the weekend, but I know not all of you have this platform so I thought I’d share it again over here:

I started 2019 off like so many did- By #konmari-ing the heck out of our home. Bedrooms, kitchen, kimono. All of it. And in effort to start the year off fresh, I finally tackled the closets that housed all the tiny odds and ends I kept in hopes of baby number ✌🏻
