Latest Skin Fixes

Lilies and Lambs Beauty

Last weekend our little town in Connecticut was hit by quite the storm. There wasn't too much snow, but the winds were outrageous. Trees came down, power was out, and we were left without cable and internet for a full three days. I had a few friends in town, so I was a bit nervous at the thought of hosting without our intended Netflix documentary marathon to keep us entertained.

We had already planned on a night cozied up in our sweatpants with some vino by the fire, so to stick with the theme- and dress code- we decided to grab a few new masks to try out together at home. And, despite those nerves, it ended up being one of the best weekends we've had together in a long time. We told stories, laughed, and talked way more than we likely would have had we been graced with the presence of technology. And it sparked a new found addiction to all things skincare for yours truly.

In the past week I've been to Sephora three times. Which is about three times more than I've been in the past year. I tried four masks in four days and I can already see the difference in my skin. And I've collected a few new products that I'm considering serious wins for my sensitive, redness-prone face.

Here are a few of my new skin fixes. Comment below with your faves. I'd love to try!

masks

Shake and Shot

Bizarre packaging. Amazing results. The Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot is one of the more fun masks to mix and apply. And it's sort of insane how the formula rubberizes on your skin. Peeling it off feels refreshing and strangely satisfying. I also go for the hydrating formulas, and this one does not disappoint.

Rubber Masks

Again, I tried the Hydration Lover. Out of all three of the Dr. Jart+ masks I'd say this Rubber Mask was, surprisingly, my least favorite. The rubber masks are soothing, but don't stay on if you're upright. So definitely apply when you can lay down. That being said, it did leave my skin smooth and quenched.

Sheet Masks

Out of all the masks I tried, I'd say this one is my favorite for a daily fix. The Dr. Jart+ Cotton Sheet Masks are user friendly, stay put, and do the trick. All for $7.50. I've stocked up on the Water Replenishment mask. Because, hydration. They're also a great beginner mask if the rubber options intimidate a newbie.

Eye Masks

I've been a fan of these little under eye pick-me-ups since a friend gifted me a set for my birthday in November. I love the Tarte Pack Your Bags patches and the skyn ICELAND Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. Both are super soothing on the eye and de-puff like magic. I like to bring them along when traveling for a quick fix after a long flight.

odds and ends

cleanser

Cruelty-free. Vegan. Gluten-Free. Fragrance-free. All clean ingredients. These are the qualities I love in a skincare product. And this Drunk Elephant BesteTM No. 9  Jelly Cleanser has them all. And has been leaving my skin feeling clean and soft without making it feel stripped or dehydrated. It's super gentle and non-irritating and has- so far- been calming for my sensitive skin.

redness reduction

It started with Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment. I was on the hunt for a concealer when a very helpful lady at Sephora turned my attention to this color correcting treatment. I don't like wearing a lot of makeup. Typically, I don't have time to methodically apply it, and I don't love the way it feels on my face. Particularly when I'm trying to conceal irritation and blemishes. But this product does both. Using a very little amount, it evens tones and covers redness and blemishes. It doesn't feel caked on and its perfect for running around during the day.

After loving their color corrector, I turned to Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Re. Pair Serum. I was in the market for a serum to use between toner and moisturizer, and I just loved the way this one melted into my face. Most products I use instantly turn my face a redder tone, but this one sits right in. And, so far, so good.

And then I had to have the BB Beauty Balm. Because addictions are real. And I now need all things Dr. Jart+. This little balm is perfect for a little extra coverage with a lot of protection. SPF 25, to be exact. And its free of Parabans, Sulfates and Phthalates. Which just makes me do a carefree happy dance.
