30 Weeks

30 weeks. It’s insane how quickly time has flown by this time around.

Two seasons have passed since we got our news, and we already a week into summer with this bump of mine. Only a few short months before our due date, and we are ready for it over here! As we enter the final ten week stretch of pregnancy, here are a few updates on baby number two:

Summer Nights

As much as I love my fall, there are few things better in life than summer nights at the beach with the family. Growing up in a coastal town, our local beach has always held a special place in our heart. And while it took me some time to find a love for the sand- I was not a fan as a kiddo- I can now think of no better way to spend a summer sunset than together by the water.

Weekend Recap

I’m happy to report that this past weekend, it finally felt like fall here in Connecticut. And the Matkovics were happy to welcome the crisp air with open arms.

Friday night Phil and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary with dinner at one of our favorite local spots, Lugano- followed by a fire pit and a bottle of wine and lots of laughs at home, just the two of us.

Happy Place

If laughter is the best medicine, then unseasonably warm weather in February is a close second.

This past holiday weekend the weather gods graced us Connecticut folk with spectacular sunshine and a well-deserved respite from the cold. MM's dad was away for most of the weekend- enjoying his annual ski trip with the guys in Vermont. But we didn't miss the opportunity to return to the local beach that becomes our second home in the summers.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, folks! We made it. I know technically it was a short week, but for some reason it sure felt like a long one to me. This crazy weather of ours has us pent-up inside some days; and while I enjoy any excuse for a day in pajamas, my little one has other plans. Thankfully, a trip to the toy store brought some distraction with a few new favorite puzzles

Friday Favorites

The last few weeks of summer are upon us, and if you follow along with me you know I'm pretty excited for what's in store. Theres a crisp chill in the early morning air, orange + black goodies grace the market aisles, and the days are ending just a tad bit sooner; meaning the leaves will soon turn into that magical burnt color that makes my heart melt. That being said, I don't think I've ever quite enjoyed a summer the way I've enjoyed this one- and while I'm excited for fall, there's a small part of me that is sad to say goodbye. I guess a little one will do that to you.

Beachside Picnic with One Hope
Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink the wild air.

I fell in love with the beach soon after I fell in love with my husband; his affinity for sandy feet and salty hair being infectious as they were. Despite growing up more poolside than seaside, he made a convert out of me- persuading me with clambakes, beachside corn-hole, summer sails, and sunset picnics replete with our favorite wines.

And while corn-hole and sails come a little less often now that we are a party of three, the sunset picnic still remains a weekly tradition.  Living just a few miles from our local beach, we often throw together an impromptu picnic a few times a week- packing the essentials for a quick an easy weekday date, if only for a glass of wine and quick bite while the sun sets.

May Roundup

Oh, May- where did you go? I feel like this past month flew by.

There was a lot of rain, a lot of wishing for spring to appear. But when it did, it was well worth the wait. The winters are long here in Connecticut. Lasting well beyond their expiration date.

The rainy days are no fun- particularly when you're cooped up with a mini that wants to explore the world. But on that first beach day- the one with the perfect breeze; the one with a cooler of watermelon and a basket of brand new beach toys; the one when your daughter dips her toes in the Sound for the very first time; the one that leaves a grin on her face, from ear to ear, for hours- that day makes it all worth it.
